Defibtech Lifeline ARM Automated Chest Compression Device

Product Description

Item # EDI-708800

The Lifeline ARM Automated Chest Compression (ACC) device from Blue Monster Prep is used to perform mechanical chest compressions when effective manual CPR is not possible.

When it comes to CPR, the quality and speed of each and every compression is critical. The Lifeline ARM, with its intuitive user interface and automated operation, ensures effective CPR with compression depth and rate as recommended in current AHA/ERC guidelines. In an emergency situation, CPR efficacy is ensured, and the rescuer is freed for other interventions and tasks.

CPR has a measureable statistic called CCF which means “chest compression fraction.” It is the percentage of time in which chest compressions are done by rescuers during a cardiac arrest. CCF drops if there are interruptions or pauses in CPR, which may be due to other rescue related activities, even if they last only 2-3 seconds. Greater CCF can impact survival.

The ARM has an extremely simplified user interface that merely requires the user to adjust the compression piston relative to the patient’s chest and choose from two emergency response protocols to initiate CPR.  Up / down buttons adjust the appropriate height for beginning compressions, and the operator may select between “Run Continuous,” which performs compressions continuously, or “Run with Breaths,” which follows the compressions-with-breaths protocol by pausing for the operator to give rescue breaths.  Toggling between protocols is designed in, to accommodate your local resuscitation protocol.  A Pause button stops compressions when running, or resumes compressions if stopped.

Be it on the ground, in an ambulance cot, or at the hospital, the Lifeline ARM is your solution for uninterrupted CPR.

Any lifesaving technique is going to require a high level of excellence in its delivery during an emergency intervention.  Such is the case with CPR, where the quality and speed of each and every compression is critical to a successful clinical outcome.

According to AHA/ERC guidelines, CPR requires maintaining 2 inches/5 cm depth compressions at a rate of 100 per minute. Such exactness is very difficult to do manually when fatigue can occur in as little as 1-2 minutes impacting efficacy.  And the quality of the CPR is hard to maintain too.  Frequent interruptions (e.g., defibrillation prep, breaths, monitoring, wounds, IVs), leaning, inadequate compression depths, and rates that are too slow or too fast can impact a victim’s chances for survival.

The ARM helps ensure the high-quality and continuous CPR associated with better survival for cardiac arrest patients.  Automated CPR also frees the rescuer for other interventions and tasks, and can be used while in a moving vehicle. The ARM benefits both patients and the professional responders from many disciplines called to rescue them including:

  • EMTs / EMS

  • Long Life Rechargeable Battery
Advanced battery technology, with flexible power options, allows for unmatched operational times and long service life across a wide temperature range. By design, fast battery pack swapping of the rechargeable battery, as well as external AC power adapter operation is possible.

Long runtime battery life (requires less power to accomplish compressions)
    Fast recharge time
Long useful life battery (3 years)
An optional charging station holds two battery packs

  • Lightweight Rigid Frame
The solidness of the frame and backboard allow operation of the compression piston without undue deflection or distortion that could compromise consistent compression depth, an important element for effective CPR. The frame’s single piece design increases structural integrity, which is key to providing effective CPR. Nicely balanced and lightweight, it easily snaps into the backboard via self-locking latches. CPR is accomplished with a drop-in compression module that mounts into the frame and contains the user interface, a removable and rechargeable battery pack and the piston drive used to generate the chest compressions.

  • Highly Visible & Portable
Time is of the essence in a rescue. The Lifeline ARM is a lightweight unit packed in a red canvas carrying case custom designed for backpack portability. The structured bag contains a custom solid foam insert for holding all supplies, any spare items and printed material, all of which make the device easy to transport, deploy, and pack up again.

  • Real-Time Protocol Selection
In accordance with your emergency response procedure during a rescue, you may choose the corresponding softkey button to select between chest compressions only (no breathing) or chest compressions with rescue breaths, for performance according to the compressions-with-breaths protocol. When using the compressions-with-breaths protocol, a reminder chirp and flashing LED are used as notifications during the three compressions prior to the device pausing for the operator to give rescue breaths. To accommodate local resuscitation protocols, the user may toggle between the two protocols during the rescue.

  • Rugged and Durable
The Lifeline ARM’s ruggedness is measured by a specific set of criteria. The structural design of the frame and backboard combine to contribute to its extreme durability and impact resistance, making it one tough unit. Built to exacting standards, the Lifeline ARM is manufactured to withstand dust and water ingress, and meets military standards for shock and vibration testing.

  • Easy to Maintain and Service
A USB port on the compression module enhances the Lifeline ARM’s serviceability in the field, and makes it adaptable to future resuscitation requirements. Maintenance functions, such as retrieval of event data, and software upgrades, can be performed through a connection to a personal computer loaded with Defibtech RMU-1000 ACC Support Software. A Service Indicator light on the compression module indicates when it is time for periodic servicing.

  • Easy to Transfer Data
The Lifeline ARM supports event capture and post-event review. A USB port on the compression module provides for data logging downloads of event information through a connection to a personal computer loaded with Defibtech Support Software.
